App - 'ReThink'

In 2014, Trisha Prabhu, a 13 year old girl from Illinois, United States, created a smartphone app called 'Rethink', after being shocked by the number of adolescents who have taken their lives after being cyberbullied (Tedx Talks, 2014). The app alerts users with a warning message about whether they wish to post a hurtful and offensive message about someone.

After trialing this app, it was revealed that 93.4% of adolescents changed their minds before posting their messages online, and the overall willingness to post these messages after receiving the alert message dropped from a staggering 71.1% to 4.7% (Tedx Talks, 2014).
​
Since then Trisha has appeared on the US Shark Tank where she secured $100,000 from two major investors (Donahue, 2016). Trisha was also honoured as Google Science Fair - Global Finalist in 2014, and was invited as a featured exhibitor to the White House Science Fair (Trisha Prabhu, 2016).

With her Shark Tank investors, there are talks that her app will be translated into other language very shortly (Donahue, 2016).

Trisha articulated on her Tedx Teen talk, "Rethink before you type...rethink before you post, rethink before the damage is done is an effective long term method to stop cyberbullying at the source." (Tedx Talks, 2014).
